Lightweight, Rugged, and Built for Adventure: The 2026 Country Born CB14 Checks Every Box

Modern Buggy’s latest compact trailer delivers smart design, off-road ability, and surprising comfort in one lightweight package.

Lightweight, Rugged, and Built for Adventure: The 2026 Country Born CB14 Checks Every Box

You can’t always get everything you want — especially in the RV world, where compromise usually comes with the territory. More space often means more weight, and more features usually require a bigger tow vehicle. But Modern Buggy seems determined to challenge that idea with its newest trailer.

The company, founded in the Midwest back in 2019, built its reputation around lightweight, durable campers that don’t force owners into buying massive trucks just to tow them. Even after several changes over the years, the brand still focuses on practical, adventure-ready trailers that stay affordable and easy to use.

The newest example is the 2026 Country Born CB14, a compact towable that officially enters production after appearing as a prototype last year.

Modern Buggy describes the CB14 as a trailer designed so owners “won’t need anything more,” and honestly, that doesn’t feel like empty marketing hype. This thing packs an impressive amount of functionality into a surprisingly small footprint.

Positioned in the middle of the Country Born lineup, the CB14 blends the strengths of both the smaller and larger models. It still uses the company’s wood-free construction with aluminum framing, fiberglass, double Azdel sidewalls, a full fiberglass roof, and a composite subfloor. The setup keeps weight low while improving durability against weather, moisture, and even pests.

The trailer rides on a single torsion axle, though buyers can upgrade to Timbren independent suspension if they plan on hitting rougher terrain. It also comes equipped with all-terrain ST235/75R15 tires, electric brakes, and 14 inches of ground clearance.

So yes, it’s fully capable of handling dirt roads and off-grid camping trips, but it doesn’t look overly aggressive or bulky doing it.

At 16.5 feet long and with a dry weight of just 1,895 pounds, the CB14 can be towed by many midsize SUVs. Maximum GVWR sits at 3,500 pounds, making it approachable for buyers who don’t own heavy-duty pickups.

Inside, the trailer manages to sleep up to four people, although things might feel a little tigth at full capacity. Even so, the layout makes smart use of every inch.

One of the biggest surprises is the rear kitchen. Hidden under a tailgate-style hatch that doubles as an awning, the galley includes a large 12-volt refrigerator, a two-burner gas cooktop connected to a 20-pound propane tank, a sink with hot and cold water, and plenty of storage space.

To save weight, several storage compartments use mesh nets instead of solid cabinet doors. Two of the cubbies even pass through directly into the cabin.

You can’t cook from inside the trailer itself, but since the outdoor kitchen sits protected under the rear hatch, rainy weather shouldn’t ruin dinner plans.

The cabin is compact but flexible. A full-size bed sits at the rear beside the entrance, while a jackknife sofa near the front works as both seating and an extra sleeping area. Across from the door, there’s additional storage and a fold-up counter hiding a Thetford cassette toilet for nighttime emergencies. A privacy curtain is included too.

The sofa can sleep one adult comfortably or maybe two smaller kids. Meanwhile, the rear bed folds upward against the wall, revealing a face-to-face dinette setup with benches and integrated storage underneath.

There’s also more storage hidden beneath the sofa, so despite the trailer’s size, there’s room for gear, supplies, and everyday camping essentials.

The interior itself keeps things simple and functional instead of trying too hard to look futuristic. Materials feel sturdy, clean, and practical — exactly what most buyers want from a lightweight adventure trailer.

And despite the compact size, the CB14 still covers the basics really wel.

Modern Buggy includes a long list of standard equipment, including a Fogatti on-demand water heater paired with a 26-gallon freshwater tank, in-floor heating, air conditioning, magnetic screen-door latches, solid entry steps from Suburban, and a 200-watt solar setup connected to a 100Ah battery.

Because the trailer already comes fairly loaded from the factory, optional extras are limited. Buyers can still add the upgraded suspension system, extra solar capacity, or a powered awning with integrated LED lighting.

Perhaps the biggest surprise is the pricing.

The official MSRP starts at $21,950, but real-world sale prices are reportedly landing between $16,000 and $18,000. For a rugged, well-equipped trailer this compact and lightweight, that’s honestly a pretty strong value in today’s RV market.
