Ford F-350 Super Duty Surpasses 1.3 Million Miles

U.S. resident John Freeland has driven his 2000 Ford F-350 Super Duty pickup more than 1.3 million miles while keeping the original diesel engine and transmission.

Ford F-350 Super Duty Surpasses 1.3 Million Miles

The Ford F-350 Super Duty was purchased new and used by its owner for freight hauling. According to Freeland, throughout its entire service life, the truck never required a major overhaul of its 7.3-liter V8 powerplant.

The only serious issue was a clutch replacement after 700,000 miles (about 1.2 million kilometers). The turbocharger and other key engine components are still performing like new.

The owner believes that strict adherence to the maintenance schedule has been the key factor in the truck’s reliability. The engine oil was changed every 5,000 miles (8,000 kilometers) using genuine filters and high-quality fuel. Other systems were serviced at authorized dealerships.
