Restomod 1968 Pontiac Firebird Featuring Corvette-Derived 350 V8 Heads Set for Auction

A 1968 Pontiac Firebird that pairs classic pony car looks with substantial performance upgrades is generating interest ahead of its auction in North Salt Lake, Utah. Part of the Hank’s Garage Car Collection, the coupe has reached $4,500 with 11 days left in bidding. The listing shows six bids and more than 2,600 views. Represented by a Broad Arrow Specialist, the car is offered with a clean Utah title and is exempt from odometer disclosure requirements. The odometer reads 1,700 miles, although actual mileage is listed as unknown.

Launched at the peak of the late-1960s pony car wars under the direction of John Z. DeLorean, the Firebird stood out with its split grille, deeply set quad headlights, and sharply defined bodywork.

This example maintains those signature design cues but now wears a yellow finish with black striping in place of its original Primavera Beige. Inside, the factory Gold Strato-Bucket seats have been replaced with reupholstered black vinyl buckets, along with refreshed interior trim.

Under the hood sits a replacement 350-cubic-inch V8 reportedly sourced from a 1982 Chevrolet Corvette. The engine was said to have approximately 10,000 miles when installed. Equipment includes an Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold, four-barrel carburetor, HEI ignition distributor, serpentine accessory drive, and an aluminum radiator paired with an electric cooling fan. Exhaust exits through a dual MagnaFlow system. Power is delivered through a 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission with overdrive.

One of the most notable upgrades is the independent rear suspension conversion sourced from Jaguar, paired with Bilstein coilovers and four-wheel disc brakes. The setup includes inboard rear discs and a Hydroboost braking system. The car rides on 15-inch American Racing wheels wrapped in BF Goodrich tires.

Additional enhancements include a Vintage Air air-conditioning system, aftermarket AutoMeter instrumentation, a tilt steering column, and a Custom AutoSound head unit. Reported flaws consist of minor paint chips, light cracking in areas, and non-functioning windshield wipers.

The auction package includes keys, a spare tire, a jack, and a fire extinguisher. This marks the first time vehicles from Hank’s Garage have been publicly offered for sale.
