Headline: Honda S2000 Type R Rendered as a 2028 Model in Independent Digital Images

While Toyota is nurturing plans to revive its legendary Celica and MR2 sports car names, Honda is already doing it. Not long ago, the Japanese automaker brought back the Prelude name, and it could eventually turn its attention to reviving the iconic S2000 roadster. A virtual artist from the Philippines recently showed what such a car could look like.

The Honda S2000 debuted in 1999 as a two-seat, open-top roadster with a front-mid-mounted engine. Production of the model continued through 2009. During its production run, the S2000 received several updates, including changes to its exterior, interior, and mechanical components.

Philippine virtual artist Enoch Gabriel Gonzalez, known on social media as "enochgonzalesdesigns," previously presented his own vision of a modern S2000. His project depicted a hypothetical 2028 Honda S2000 with a new design, an open top, and proportions reminiscent of the original roadster.

Now the artist has developed a more extreme Type R version. The virtual car features a white body with numerous black elements, while the exterior looks noticeably more aggressive than the hypothetical standard S2000.

The front end features a vented hood and redesigned lighting. Three small vents have been added at the lower corners, while the new bumper gets large air intakes and a central black element shaped like the letter "Y."

The sides have also been extensively redesigned. The front and rear wheel arches have been widened, new side skirts have been added, and the standard mirrors feature a gloss-black finish. The windshield surround is finished in the same color.

The wheels also stand out in the project. The virtual S2000 Type R gets black alloy wheels with double spokes that form a distinctive "Y"-shaped pattern.

The rear received even more noticeable changes. A large rear wing has been installed, while the bumper has been completely redesigned. The lower section is dominated by the project's signature three-exhaust-outlet system.

The powertrain for the virtual S2000 Type R has not been disclosed by the project creator. There are also no confirmed technical specifications for the hypothetical car, so it cannot yet be linked to a specific engine.

No matter how good such a roadster looks, the car remains a design fantasy created with computer graphics. Honda has not confirmed either the development of a new S2000 or the arrival of a Type R version. Even so, the possibility of such a car becoming reality cannot be completely ruled out.

Earlier, the first independent render of the next-generation Honda CR-V appeared online, suggesting the vehicle could undergo a radical transformation in terms of design.
