Updated Lexus RX Debuts With Four Powertrains and Plenty of Options

The updated 2027 Lexus RX will debut in the U.S. in six trims. Prices start at $55,450.

The Japanese model comes standard with a turbocharged 2.4-liter engine producing up to 275 hp. It is paired with a short-throw eight-speed automatic transmission with updated software. The base version comes with full-time all-wheel drive that can vary torque distribution from 75:25 to 50:50.

The next version adds a hybrid powertrain with a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated engine. Combined output reaches 246 hp. The third version gets another hybrid based on the same 2.5-liter engine. However, this powertrain provides nearly 37 miles of electric-only range.

The top F Sport version gets a 2.4-liter turbocharged engine producing 271 hp, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and an electric motor. Combined output reaches up to 366 hp. The all-wheel-drive system in the top version can redistribute torque in fractions of a second.

The F Sport version comes with adaptive suspension that automatically adjusts to changing driving conditions. The Performance version uses rear-wheel steering, with the rear wheels able to turn by up to four degrees.

The cabin comes standard with a 12.3-inch multifunction display. Buyers also get wireless charging and a center console box that opens from both sides. The rear seats feature power adjustment with automatic seatback folding support, heating, and ventilation.

More expensive trims add a 14-inch touchscreen with anti-glare technology, a premium 21-speaker audio system, and several driver-assistance features. Among them is an automated parking system that uses 12 sensors and four cameras to remotely control the vehicle while maneuvering in a parking lot.

The Lexus RX will also be offered with a traffic-jam assist, lane-keeping assist, proactive driving assist, radar cruise control, emergency steering assist, pedestrian and cyclist detection, traffic-sign recognition, automatic headlights, and other features.
