Volkswagen's New Electric SUV Can Travel 372 Miles on a Charge — And It's Replacing the ID.4
Volkswagen has officially unveiled the all-electric ID. Tiguan, a new SUV designed to replace the ID.4 with updated styling and improved range.
Volkswagen has officially introduced the ID. Tiguan, an all-electric SUV that will take the place of the ID.4. The new model features revised exterior styling, a redesigned cabin, and a longer driving range. British publication Auto Express reports that the electric crossover also brings several changes to Volkswagen’s latest design and technology.

The exterior follows the automaker’s new Pure Positive design language. The front end features a full-width LED light bar and an illuminated Volkswagen badge. Aerodynamic improvements have also reduced the drag coefficient from 0.27 to 0.26, helping the SUV slip through the air more efficiently.
Inside, the ID. Tiguan gets a 15-inch infotainment touchscreen and a redesigned steering wheel with physical buttons. Volkswagen has also ditched the touch-sensitive climate control sliders in favor of conventional switches. An additional 12-inch display is available for the front passenger, with a privacy feature designed to prevent the driver from seeing its content.

Buyers will be able to choose between 58-kWh and 77-kWh battery packs. The entry-level version offers a claimed range of up to 279 miles, while the larger battery increases that figure to 372 miles on a single charge.
Maximum DC fast-charging power stands at 105 kW for the smaller battery and 165 kW for the larger one. Volkswagen says charging from 10% to 80% takes less than 30 minutes.
The base model produces 187 horsepower and accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in 8.5 seconds. A more powerful rear-wheel-drive version delivers 282 horsepower and completes the same sprint in 6.6 seconds. The all-wheel-drive model, equipped with two electric motors, reaches 62 mph in 6.3 seconds.
Selected versions will be available with DCC Sport adaptive suspension, which lowers the ride height by approximately 0.6 inches. The electric SUV also gains a one-pedal driving mode and an increased maximum towing capacity of 4,409 pounds.
At the top of the lineup, the sporty R-Line trim adds 21-inch wheels, redesigned bumpers, massaging seats, and heated rear seats. The package gives the ID. Tiguan a more aggressive appearance while adding extra comfort features.
Sales of the Volkswagen ID. Tiguan in the United Kingdom are scheduled to begin in early 2027. The lineup will include Life, Style, and R-Line trims. Volkswagen has not yet announced pricing.
U.S. availability, specifications, and pricing have not been confirmed, so it remains unclear whether American buyers will receive the same lineup and battery options.
