JETTA VS8: A German Take on the Family SUV
With unmistakable German-inspired design, the model combines balanced performance with modern technology.
The new mid-size SUV JETTA VS8 has just debuted in China. With design cues that reveal its German roots, the model offers a balance of performance, comfort, and advanced technology.
At its core is a familiar 1.4-liter turbocharged engine paired with a six-speed automatic transmission, a setup promising reliability and efficiency. Ride comfort is supported by a fully independent suspension: MacPherson struts in the front and a multi-link system in the rear.

The VS8 is positioned as both high-tech and safe. Standard equipment includes a suite of driver-assistance systems offering Level 2 autonomy, with features such as adaptive cruise control and a 360-degree camera system. Inside, the focus is digital: a minimalist cabin built around a 14.6-inch central display, digital instrument cluster, and multifunction steering wheel. A key highlight is its AI-powered voice assistant, based on DeepSeek and Doubao neural networks, capable of handling even complex, combined commands.

The design stands out with sharp lines and tech-inspired details, including a frameless grille, illuminated logo, and LED headlights. Blacked-out pillars create a “floating roof” effect.
In terms of size, the SUV measures 4,629 mm in length, 1,851 mm in width, and 1,624 mm in height, with a 2,731 mm wheelbase—dimensions that make for a roomy interior suited to both city driving and long trips.
For now, the JETTA VS8 is available exclusively in China, with preliminary prices ranging from about $13,900 to $15,990.
