Ford to Launch New Focus-Sized Crossover – Details Leak

According to reports, Ford is planning a new crossover to fill the gap left by the Focus in its lineup.

Ford to Launch New Focus-Sized Crossover – Details Leak

Rumors suggest that Ford will introduce a new crossover to occupy the space once held by the Focus. The model is expected to debut in 2027 and will be offered with both hybrid and fully electric powertrains. It’s likely to be sold alongside the Kuga and share components to cut costs.

Sources say Ford is preparing to add another crossover to its lineup in 2027, potentially filling the void left after the Focus was discontinued. The upcoming vehicle will be a midsize crossover but will not replace the Kuga.

This is particularly notable as the Escape—essentially the U.S. cousin of the Kuga—is also slated to be phased out soon. The rumored crossover would feature hybrid and electric options, and both variants are expected to share key components.

The new model may be built on Ford’s aging C2 platform, currently used in many of the brand’s vehicles. It’s expected to be relatively affordable, positioned to compete with the Hyundai Tucson, Kia Sportage, and Volkswagen Tiguan—an important move for the American automaker.

In the U.K. and across Europe, there’s currently a significant price gap between the compact Puma Gen-E at £26,245 ($33,600) and the Explorer EV at £39,285 ($50,300). If the future crossover’s electric version lands at around £32,765 ($42,000), it would slot perfectly between the two. Still, details about the new model remain scarce.
