Meet Toyota's Mini Land Cruiser: Here's the Scoop on the New SUV

For a long time, rumors have swirled that Toyota was planning an all-new SUV—one smaller and more affordable than any Land Cruiser to date.

Meet Toyota's Mini Land Cruiser: Here's the Scoop on the New SUV

For months, speculation has suggested Toyota was working on a completely new off-roader, positioned below the Land Cruiser in size and price. Early reports hinted at traditional gasoline engines, but fresh rumors indicate the automaker is instead developing a fully electric SUV.

It’s not yet clear whether Toyota will sell the model exclusively as a battery-electric vehicle or also offer a gasoline-powered version alongside it. What is clear: the SUV will be built on Toyota’s updated e-TNGA 2.0 platform, and its styling will be based on the Compact Cruiser EV concept first shown in 2021.

The upcoming “mini Land Cruiser” is expected to measure about 4.4 meters (14.4 feet) in length—making it even smaller than Toyota’s C-HR compact crossover.

Inside, the SUV could feature a 14-inch touchscreen, a small digital instrument cluster, and a straightforward yet tech-heavy cabin layout.

While Toyota hasn’t confirmed powertrain options, reports suggest the vehicle will use dual electric motors producing a combined 338 horsepower and feature all-wheel drive only. A 77-kWh battery pack is said to deliver a driving range of up to 525 kilometers (326 miles).

Production of the electric Mini Land Cruiser will reportedly take place at Toyota facilities in France and the Czech Republic.
