Volkswagen ID.Cross Reveals Its New Design Without Camouflage for the First Time as Debut Nears
Fresh photos have surfaced of a nearly uncovered 2026 Volkswagen ID.Cross spotted during another round of road testing.
New spy shots show the 2026 Volkswagen ID.Cross with almost no camouflage as it undergoes further road tests. This marks the first time the electric crossover has been seen so lightly disguised, offering a clear look at many of its design details.
Judging by the images, the ID.Cross adopts a noticeably more conventional look compared with earlier VW EVs. The automaker appears to be dialing back the bold, experimental styling of its first electric models in favor of a cleaner, more familiar design—an approach that makes sense for what is expected to become a flagship EV in the lineup.

Design highlights include a slim LED light bar beneath the VW badge up front, distinctive teardrop-shaped headlights, and an overall triangular profile. At the rear, the crossover features horizontally connected taillights, a design cue that has become a signature of Volkswagen’s recent models.

Inside, the cabin is finished in black and features two large displays on the dashboard, another hallmark of Volkswagen’s latest-generation vehicles. Preliminary reports suggest the ID.Cross will offer a driving range of up to about 280 miles, with at least one version available with Volkswagen’s 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system.

It remains unclear whether this specific version will make it to the Indian market, where it could prove too advanced and expensive for local buyers. Even so, industry observers believe the styling and engineering seen on the ID.Cross will shape future models such as the Taigun and other VW electric crossovers planned for India in the coming years, possibly as early as 2028.
