Chevy Corvette Z06 Slips off Lift at Dealer — Damage Is Severe, Won’t Buff Out
2024 Corvette Z06 owner faced nightmare news after his brand-new car fell from the lift.
The owner of a 2024 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 got the call every enthusiast dreads. A representative from the dealership informed him that his car, with just 3,000 miles on it, had slipped off the lift and suffered significant damage. What happened to this nearly new Corvette isn’t something that’s going to buff out.
The owner, Jared Adrian George, shared the story on social media, warning, “Not how I wanted to start my day. And no, this isn’t A.I.” He had taken the Corvette Z06 to an unnamed Texas dealership for its first oil change, just a week after trading in his Mercedes-AMG GT.

When he returned home, he noticed a small drop of oil on the garage floor and realized the ‘Vette was leaking. The next morning, he went straight back to the dealership and asked the technicians to fix it, expecting a simple, quick repair.
While the car was raised on the lift, it unexpectedly gave way. Technicians managed to crane it back into position, but the damage had already been done. Photos uploaded on Facebook show serious structural and body damage.

The good news: the 5.5-liter LT6 V8 under the hood is intact. That means the Corvette still produces 670 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque, with a 0–60 mph run in 2.6 seconds thanks to the Z07 performance package. The quarter mile is still around 10.5 seconds, and top speed is 195 mph. Power goes through a dual-clutch automatic to the rear wheels, with Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes handling stopping duties.

The Corvette rolls on Michelin Pilot Super Sport Cup 2R tires, which provide the grip needed for its insane performance. But the question remains: even if repaired, is this Z06 something the owner will want to drive? Probably mechanically yes, but emotionally? Likely not.

Fiberglass panels are cracked, and the chassis is far from pristine. Considering the cost of repairs on a car barely two years old, the insurance company could declare it a total loss. Many who saw the Facebook post advised Jared to just get a new car instead.

Other Corvette Lift Incidents
It seems C8 Corvettes have had their share of lift mishaps. Similar incidents have been reported multiple times. Back in 2020, a red Corvette slipped off a lift due to what the owner said was improper securing by technicians.
A year later, a Rapid Blue C8 with about 3,400 miles sustained major rear-end damage while a technician was working underneath it at a dealership.
Then, in September 2023, a red Z06 experienced a nearly identical accident during its pre-delivery inspection. The owners in each case were understandably frustrated, facing delays and expensive repairs for what should have been routine dealership service.
This incident is a stark reminder that even exotic American supercars aren’t immune to mistakes at the shop — and a moment on the lift can quickly turn a dream car into a costly headache.
