Toyota Unveils New Hilux Accessories From GR and Modellista for Buyers Wanting More Style and Capability
Toyota expands the new Hilux lineup with factory-backed upgrades focused on style and off-road performance.
Toyota first revealed the ninth-generation Hilux last November, but the pickup has only now reached Japanese dealerships. While the redesigned bodywork, updated interior, and stiffer frame have already been widely discussed, one surprise arrival is the extensive catalog of factory accessories developed by Modellista and GR Parts.

For buyers looking to give their truck a more distinctive appearance, Modellista has created a package centered around what Toyota describes as a "refined simplicity" philosophy. In practical terms, that translates into black trim accents on the hood, around the headlights, and across the tailgate, along with revised bumper inserts featuring integrated LED lighting.

The upgrades aren't purely cosmetic, however. Modellista also offers front and rear skid plates, a sculpted hard tonneau cover, and exclusive 18-inch alloy wheels finished in matte olive with machined accents. Together, the additions give the Hilux a tougher and more upscale look.

Toyota's Gazoo Racing division contributes an even broader selection of accessories. Buyers can equip their truck with a black honeycomb grille, red or black GR mud flaps, aerodynamic window visors, and dual stainless-steel exhaust tips.

Although Toyota has yet to officially confirm a next-generation Hilux GR Sport model, owners of the standard truck can now create something close to their own version. GR Parts offers Performance shock absorbers for both axles, which Toyota says help reduce vibrations while improving handling. Upgraded stabilizer bars are also available and are designed to sharpen steering response by increasing chassis rigidity.

Toyota itself has assembled an Adventure Starter Set that bundles several popular accessories together. The package includes a bed cover, upgraded tailgate badging, roof crossbars, and a tailgate assist damper.
Under the hood, Japanese-market Hilux models are available exclusively with a 2.8-liter turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. Four-wheel drive comes standard.
Unlike some international versions, Japanese buyers won't have access to a gasoline engine, diesel hybrid, or fully electric powertrain. Markets such as Thailand offer a much wider range of configurations, including single-cab, rear-wheel-drive, and lowered variants. In Japan, Toyota is keeping things simple with a single well-equipped double-cab model.
Even the entry-level trim comes generously equipped. Standard features include dual 12.3-inch displays, electric power steering, synthetic leather upholstery, and the latest Toyota Safety Sense driver-assistance suite.
The flagship version adds a reinforced front bumper, a larger skid plate, sportier exterior trim, a tailgate assist system, black alloy wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires, and a Mineral-themed interior finish.
Pricing starts at approximately $34,300 for the base Hilux in Japan. That's about $3,300 more than the upcoming compact Land Cruiser FJ and roughly $1,250 more than the classic Land Cruiser 70 Series. The top-spec Hilux carries a sticker price of around $37,900, placing it roughly $1,900 above the new Land Cruiser Prado 250.
With the expanded accessory lineup from Modellista and GR Parts, Toyota is giving Hilux owners plenty of ways to personalize their trucks without waiting for a dedicated high-performnce variant. For buyers who want extra capability and visual flair straight from the factory, the options list is now much longer than before.
