Next-Generation Budget Crossover Kia EV2 Caught on Camera: First Photos
Kia has begun road tests of the production version of the Kia EV2 electric car. Production for the European market will start in 2026.

Kia is actively preparing to release its new compact electric car — the EV2. Previously presented as a concept, it has already hit the road for production version tests. Carscoops has published the first spy photos, and judging by them, the crossover will retain its rugged design, though with slight simplifications.
Although the car is hidden under heavy camouflage, it is noticeable that engineers have softened the body lines somewhat, especially in the rear. However, the brand's characteristic angular roof pillar will remain — this is one of the key design elements. Instead of the striking swing doors, regular ones will appear, and the lighting will be made more practical: the headlights and running lights will be separated.
The EV2 will become Kia's smallest and most affordable electric vehicle. It's expected to come with one or two motor versions for front-wheel drive, and the range will be 300–350 km — not bad for an urban crossover. In Europe, it will compete with the Renault 4 E-Tech and Citroën e-C3, and its price, preliminarily, will not exceed 30,000 euros (or about 25,000 dollars for some markets).
Kia has confirmed: mass production will begin in 2026. So, there is not much time left — perhaps the first official details will appear later this year.
According to the editorial team, this electric car is suitable for those who want to switch to electric traction without overpaying. Its straightforward stylish design, compact dimensions, and relatively affordable price make it a great option for the city. Yes, it won't offer record-breaking range, but 400 km is quite a decent figure for everyday trips.
