The 2027 Honda Civic Just Got More Premium — And It Still Starts Under $27,000
Honda has updated the Civic for the U.S. market, adding premium features and new driving technology without significantly raising prices.
Honda has unveiled the updated 2027 Civic for the U.S. market. The compact car retains its affordable pricing while gaining more upscale features and driving technology borrowed from the sporty Prelude.

The 2027 Civic lineup introduces a new Sport-L trim, bringing features previously reserved for hybrid models to a gasoline-powered version. Prices start at $26,290, while the new Sport-L costs at least $28,495. As before, buyers can choose between sedan and hatchback body styles. The exterior and interior designs remain unchanged.
The Civic measures 181.3 inches long, 74.4 inches wide, and 55.4 inches tall, with a 107.7-inch wheelbase. The trunk offers 14.8 cubic feet of cargo space.

Under the hood, the Sport-L features a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine producing 158 horsepower and 138 lb-ft of torque. A continuously variable transmission (CVT) sends power to the front wheels. Honda lists combined fuel economy at approximately 34 mpg.
The new Sport-L trim adds leather-trimmed seats, heated front seats with power adjustment, dual-zone automatic climate control, and silver interior accents. The steering wheel is also leather-wrapped and heated. These upgrades give the Civic a more premium feel without requiring buyers to step up to a hybrid model.

Both the sedan and hatchback come standard with a 9-inch touchscreen, a 12-speaker Bose audio system, 18-inch alloy wheels with a gloss-black finish, and a range of driver-assistance technologies. Safety features include collision mitigation, lane-keeping assistance, and forward-collision warnings.
Hybrid versions pair a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter engine with two electric motors. The combined system produces up to 200 horsepower, while total torque reaches 232 lb-ft. The gasoline engine generates up to 141 horsepower, and the electric motors deliver up to 181 horsepower. Like the standard gasoline model, the hybrid sends power to the front wheels. Honda lists combined fuel economy at approximately 49 mpg.

One of the updates is Honda's S+ Shift system, which first appeared in the Prelude coupe. The technology simulates gear changes to make acceleration feel more engaging, giving the hybrid Civic a sportier character despite its electrified powertrain.
Hybrid Civic models are priced close to $30,000, depending on trim and equipment. The updated model is already available for preorder, but U.S. deliveries are expected closer to the end of 2026.
