GM Issues Recall for Chevrolet Corvette Z06 and ZR1 Models Over Fueling Fire Risk

General Motors (GM) has announced a safety recall for certain high-performance Chevrolet Corvette Z06 and ZR1 models from the 2023 to 2026 model years. The action addresses a concern that could lead to a fire during the fueling process.

According to the automaker, if the fuel tank is overfilled, excess gasoline could spill into the area around the fuel filler neck. From there, fuel might leak onto the radiator or cooling fan located on the driver's side of the car. If this fuel comes into contact with hot engine components, it could ignite.

To fix the problem, Chevrolet dealerships will install a new protective seal around the fuel filler neck free of charge. This seal is designed to prevent fuel from leaking onto hot parts. The installation typically takes about half an hour. Owners who paid for repairs to address this specific issue out of pocket may be eligible for reimbursement. They should submit their original receipts to their local dealership or contact GM directly.

GM is urging all owners of the affected Corvette models to schedule a service appointment as soon as they receive an official recall notification in the mail.
