Toyota to Completely Rethink the Best-Selling Sedan of All Time
A new generation of the Toyota Corolla is preparing for its debut.
A new generation of the Toyota Corolla is just around the corner. The world’s best-selling sedan is set for major changes, both in terms of design and technology.
According to reports, the new model is expected to debut in the second half of this year, with the first vehicles reaching customers in the first half of 2027. Until then, speculation is growing about how the car will look and what powertrains it will offer.

Digital artist Theottle used last year’s Corolla concept car as the basis for a new rendering, reimagining it as a production vehicle while carrying over many of the concept’s visual elements.
The result is a sedan with a less futuristic exterior than the show car, but one that still looks modern and sporty.

The reworked Corolla features softer body lines, conventional door handles, distinctive lighting signatures front and rear, uniquely sculpted bumpers, and a compact spoiler integrated into the trunk lid.

The new Corolla is expected to ride on Toyota’s TNGA platform and be offered in multiple versions. A 1.5-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine is likely to be upgraded with an electric assist system, while the current 1.8-liter gasoline engine could also carry over to the new model.

In addition, Toyota is said to be considering a fully electric variant, as well as a GR Corolla version powered by a new high-performance 2.0-liter turbocharged engine. That engine is also rumored to be destined for the revived MR2 and Celica in the future.
