Ford Recalls Over 840,000 Bronco and Edge SUVs Due to Rearview Camera Issue

Ford recalls hundreds of thousands of SUVs after rearview camera glitch raises safety concerns nationwide.

Ford Recalls Over 840,000 Bronco and Edge SUVs Due to Rearview Camera Issue

Ford Motor Company is recalling more than 840,000 vehicles, including the Ford Bronco and Ford Edge, according to a notice from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The issue stems from a fault in the accessory protocol interface module. Regulators say the component can overheat and shut down, which may prevent the rearview camera image from showing as intended. Earlier in the week, Ford also announced another recall affecting more than 47,000 vehicles tied to problems with EcoBoost engines, including some Bronco models.

A malfunctioning rear camera can limit visibility behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash, the notice explains.

In total, 849,310 vehicles are impacted, covering model years 2021–2026 for the Bronco and 2021–2024 for the Edge.

Owners of affected SUVs are expected to begin receiving notifiction letters around March 30. Ford says the fix will come either through an over-the-air software update or via a dealership visit, both provided free of charge.
