Volkswagen Updates the Multivan: More Comfort for Nearly the Same Price
Volkswagen has unveiled the refreshed 2027 Multivan in Europe, adding more comfort features while keeping its existing powertrain lineup.
The new 2027 Volkswagen Multivan has debuted in two versions that differ in their equipment levels. The base model starts at approximately $49,000, while the top trim is priced at about $64,000.
The entry-level Multivan is powered by a 2.0-liter turbo-diesel engine. It produces 150 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque. Average fuel consumption is rated at 38 mpg.

As an option, the German model is available with a hybrid powertrain built around a 1.5-liter engine. It is paired with two electric motors that provide all-wheel drive. Combined output reaches 245 horsepower. A 19.7-kWh battery delivers an all-electric driving range of up to 62 miles. The hybrid Multivan has an average fuel consumption rating of 157 mpg. Every version of the German model comes with a dual-clutch automatic transmission.
As before, the vehicle is offered in two body lengths: 195.7 inches and 203.5 inches. Inside, the Multivan features an updated digital instrument cluster. A separate 12.9-inch touchscreen sits alongside it. Below the display are illuminated touch sliders for adjusting the audio volume and climate controls. The multifunction steering wheel now includes buttons that allow drivers to choose from three different instrument cluster display layouts.

As part of the update, the standard equipment list now includes a wireless charging pad, high-output USB ports, illuminated cupholders, a lane change assist system for highway driving, traffic light recognition, an emergency assist system, and ergonomically designed power-adjustable seats with memory settings. Optional controls for the sliding doors are integrated into the center console.
Buyers can also order the Multivan with two individual second-row captain's chairs. However, this option is available only with the diesel engine. Visually, the updated model stands out with larger LED headlights connected by an illuminated light bar. Volkswagen says the new headlights provide more even and brighter illumination both on straight roads and while cornering. The automaker also introduced three new exterior paint combinations and offers 17-, 18-, and 19-inch wheels.
