KGM (SsangYong) and Chery have agreed to produce new mid-size and full-size SUVs

South Korean company KGM (formerly SsangYong Motor) and Chinese automaker Chery have signed an agreement to jointly develop mid-size and large SUVs.

The companies plan not only to create new models for the Korean and global markets, but also to deepen cooperation in the field of autonomous driving and software-controlled vehicles.

The first model will be released in 2026

The first project under the new alliance is named SE-10. The development of the vehicle will be completed by 2026, and the market launch dates will depend on the market situation. KG Mobility intends to expand its model range to include both traditional gasoline cars and environmentally friendly models.

It has been revealed that the partnership also encompasses developments in autonomous vehicle control and SDV systems, including electronic infrastructure. KGM aims to expand its range by offering not only traditional gasoline engines, but also environmentally friendly vehicles, including through strategic cooperation with Cherry Automobile, and to launch a series of specialized models for niche market segments.

KGM hopes that the cars planned for 2025-2026 will strengthen its position in the global market and offer customers vehicles with optimal fuel efficiency and high technological sophistication.
