Pre-orders for the Huawei Aito M8 electric crossover start at $52,000
The Chinese tech giant has unveiled a flagship premium-class electric car with an innovative platform and advanced autopilot.

Huawei Aito has begun accepting pre-orders for the fully electric version of the M8 crossover. The starting price of the model is 378,000 yuan (approximately $52,000). Sales will begin in August, and early customers will receive bonuses: a deposit of 5,000 yuan (about $700) turns into a 10,000 yuan ($1,400) discount, and a free upgrade to the exclusive Night Violet body color.
The electric version retains the signature 'Kunpeng' style but received a new radiator grille and a chrome strip connecting the double headlights. A lidar is installed on the roof, and there is an additional trunk under the hood. The dimensions are identical to the hybrid version: length — 5190 mm, width — 1999 mm, height — 1795 mm, wheelbase — 3105 mm. The interior is available in five or six-seat options.
The vehicle is equipped with the Huawei Qiankun Intelligent Driving ADS 4 system, providing advanced driver assistance features. The Huawei DriveONE powertrain combines electric motors and a CATL battery with 100 kWh, providing a range of up to 705 km (according to the CLTC cycle). In the top version, there are two motors — 160 kW at the front and 227 kW at the rear.
According to Richard Yu from Huawei, the new Whale 800V platform saves up to 30% of space in the cabin, and the system's efficiency reaches 92.2%. Power redundancy improves safety, allowing the vehicle to remain controllable even if one power source fails.
