Nissan Unveils All-Electric Sixth-Generation Micra: Up to 260-Mile Range, Smart Tech, and a Low Price

Nissan has officially unveiled the sixth-generation Micra in Rotterdam, positioning it as a compact EV with dynamic handling and intuitive technology.

Built on the AmpR platform, the Micra features short overhangs and a low center of gravity (3,307 lbs). A multi-link rear suspension, low-mounted battery, and precise steering deliver smooth ride quality and handling rarely found in small electric cars.

Despite a short 100-inch wheelbase, it offers a roomy 11.5-cubic-foot trunk and can tow trailers up to 1,102 lbs.

Two battery options are available: a 40-kWh pack (up to 198 miles WLTP) and a 52-kWh pack (up to 260 miles WLTP). Both support 100-kW DC fast charging and include V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) functionality to power external devices, with V2G (Vehicle-to-Grid) integration planned for the near future.

The Micra’s design, created by Nissan Design Europe in London, draws SUV-inspired styling cues while remaining agile for city driving. Inside, dual 10.1-inch screens provide access to Google services—Maps, Assistant, and Play Store—alongside voice control and real-time navigation. The NissanConnect app allows remote climate control, battery status checks, and trip planning with charging stops.

Standard driver-assistance tech includes adaptive cruise control, parking assistance, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, and lane departure warnings.

The new Micra marks the first step in Nissan’s broader European EV offensive. By 2027, the company plans to launch four all-electric models, including an updated Leaf, the next-generation Juke, and a new A-segment vehicle.
