Cadillac Recalls Vistiq Over Faulty Power-Folding Third-Row Seat

General Motors has reportedly issued a stop-sale order and launched a recall affecting certain Cadillac Vistiq models due to a problem with the SUV’s power-folding third-row seat. Information about the campaign first surfaced on social media, while official documents from GM and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration have not yet been published.

According to reports, the issue involves the third-row seatback, which may fail to reverse direction when it encounters an obstruction during the automatic folding process. The Vistiq uses a one-touch button to activate the power-folding feature, but in some cases the seatback could become stuck instead of stopping and moving back.

Such a malfunction could pose a safety risk, especially for children or smaller passengers. If the seatback continues moving without reversing, there is a possibility of injury.

Although GM has not yet released details on the repair procedure, the likely solution will involve replacing the third-row seat module.

The recall reportedly affects the following models:

• 2026 Cadillac Vistiq
• 2027 Cadillac Vistiq

At this point, the total number of affected vehicles has not been disclosed.

GM has also yet to publish an official owner notification schedule. As with most recalls, owners of impacted vehicles are expected to receive letters explaining the issue and providing instructions for arranging repairs at authorized Cadillac dealerships. Any required work would be performed free of charge.

The third-row seat problem is the latest in a series of issues addressed on the Vistiq. In December 2025, Cadillac recalled the electric SUV over a missing digital owner’s manual. Earlier that year, the automaker also launched a recall involving improperly secured battery packs and issued a customer satisfaction program related to the third-row headrests.
