There’s a New Budget Camper Contender: Venture RV’s Compact Campbound CB130CRD

With RV prices continuing to climb, affordable travel trailers are becoming harder and harder to find. That’s exactly why Venture RV’s newest Campbound lineup is turning heads. Without much fanfare, the company quietly introduced several new towable models, including what may be its smallest and least expensive floorplan yet — the CB130CRD.

Even though the Campbound family mostly includes larger layouts, the CB130CRD stands out as the tiny trailer of the bunch. Measuring just under 17 feet long, it’s aimed squarely at budget-conscious couples, solo travelers, and weekend adventurers who want something simple, compact, and easy to tow.

Right now, many dealers are listing the camper for around $12,000, making it one of the more affordable new travel trailers currently available in America. Prices can still vary depending on options and dealer markups, but Venture RV’s suggested MSRP reportedly sits closer to $22,000.

So what exactly do buyers get for that kind of money? Surprisingly, quite a bit.

Inside, the trailer is clearly designed for two adults, though a small child could fit comfortably as well. Venture RV focused on maximizing every inch of available space without making the camper feel overly cramped.

At the front of the trailer sits a double bed in an east-west layout, with overhead storage cabinets for clothes and travel essentials. There’s also storage beneath the bed, and because it connects directly to the exterior passthrough compartment, owners can grab gear from outside without tracking dirt through the cabin.

The dinette runs along the passenger side of the camper and seats two people comfortably. It doubles as a dining area, workspace, and an extra sleeping area for a child. The modular setup gives the tiny camper a little extra flexibility, which matters in a trailer this size.

Directly across from the dinette is a full three-piece bathroom. Despite the compact footprint, Venture RV somehow managed to squeeze in a shower, toilet, and sink area without making everything feel impossibly tight.

The kitchen shares the same wall as the bathroom and comes equipped with a two-burner cooktop, microwave, refrigerator, deep sink, and a high-rise faucet. For a trailer at this price point, the setup actually looks pretty decent.

If the layout feels familiar, that’s because it closely resembles the SA130VRD from Venture RV’s Sienna Lite lineup. Honestly, the two campers look almost identical aside from a few styling differences inside and out. The manufacturer hasn’t shared many details explaining what separates them mechanically.

Digging through dealer listings reveals a few more interesting features. Most CB130CRD models include a 20,000-BTU furnace, a 13,500-BTU air conditioning system, Bluetooth stereo, and insulation rated up to R-7 in the walls.

Outside, buyers typically get a 9-foot power awning, exterior speakers, and solar prep capability. From there, owners can personalize the campsite however they want — throw in a campfire, a guitar, a few folding chairs, and you’re pretty much set for the weekend.

For many buyers, spending around $12,000 for this kind of camping setup probably sounds pretty temptng. The best way to know if it fits your lifestyle, though, is to visit a local dealer and see the trailer in person.

One thing worth mentionng is that 2026 marks the first model year for the Campbound lineup, and experienced RV buyers are often cautious about brand-new models. Still, because the CB130CRD borrows so heavily from existing Venture RV designs, it doesn’t exactly feel like an entirely new camper.

The trailer itself uses a hybrid construction method that combines wood, aluminum, and composite materials. The frame structure is primarily wood, while aluminum siding covers the exterior. Up front, a fiberglass nose cap gives the little camper a sharper and more modern appearance.

For an entry-level towable designed around simplicity and affordability, the CB130CRD actually looks like a pretty solid little rig.
