New Koenigsegg Model to Appear in 2026, but Not an Electric Car
All Koenigsegg cars are already sold out, so the company is working on a new car.
Have a spare couple of million dollars and want a super exclusive Swedish hypercar? Bad news! Koenigsegg has already sold everything it has produced and will produce in the near future.
“We have nothing to sell,” said Christian von Koenigsegg. “On one hand, it's good, but it's also frustrating because it's nice to talk to enthusiasts and help them realize their dreams.”
However, there's good news! A new Koenigsegg model is on the horizon and will appear in 2026 or early 2027. “We will introduce something new in a year or a year and a half, and then we will open the order books again.”

This will be something unique and special, perhaps with new technology.
“Limited editions require a lot of development because all cars must be different,” explained Christian. “And each must have its own significance, not just a repetition of the same.”
But most likely, it will not be an electric car. Although Christian values electric motors, he wants something more primal for his cars.

Moreover, it seems that no one is yearning for a powerful electric hypercar.
“The demand for cars of this level with fully electric propulsion is extremely low,” Christian noted. “But besides that, I have been driving electric vehicles for many years and appreciate their responsiveness, smoothness, convenience in everyday life. However, over time, if you're a true car enthusiast, you want to ‘speak to the beast,’ right? You want dialogue, debate. You want to hear how it feels, what mood it's in.
You need the roar, vibrations, heat, sounds, shifting — all that makes a car alive. You could say an electric car is more like a robot, while this is like an animal.
“It's a bit like the story of the watch industry. In the 70s, quartz watches appeared and almost killed mechanical ones. But then mechanical watches came back because people wanted craftsmanship and emotions.”

Besides, our approach gives more performance on the track than any electric car because the car is lighter. There is everything in it that you find in a Swiss watch, only in car form.”
Though in the distant future he does not rule out electric cars. “Maybe someday, who knows. Maybe there will be something. But for now, we are satisfied with our current position.”
