Lamborghini Delays Transition to Electric Cars Until the End of the Decade

Italians do not believe in quiet emotions - Lamborghini postpones the 'farewell' to roaring engines.

Lamborghini Delays Transition to Electric Cars Until the End of the Decade

Despite the growing trend towards full electrification, Lamborghini is in no hurry to close the era of gasoline engines. As the brand's CTO Rouven Mohr mentioned, the focus in the coming years will be on hybrid technologies. According to him, this course will continue at least until the end of the decade. The first fully electric Lamborghini supercar — the Lanzador concept — will appear in a production version no earlier than 2029 or even 2030.

Meanwhile, the company is continuing to refine its hybrid systems. The latest coupe called Temerario is equipped with a powerful 4.0-liter V8 with twin turbocharging, working in tandem with an electric motor. The combined output of the power unit impresses — 907 horsepower. The car features all-wheel drive and an eight-speed robotic transmission, providing outstanding dynamics and handling suitable for the class.

Mohr emphasized that the mass move towards electrification is not a matter of the near future. According to his forecasts, this may happen no earlier than the mid-2030s, and possibly into the 2040s. The main argument is the emotions provided by a classic internal combustion engine. He is convinced that the brand's clients already own electric vehicles from other manufacturers, but when it comes to Lamborghini, they want to feel that same spark that comes from a roaring engine and precise pedal response.

The development vector for electric components, however, has not been canceled. As progress is made in battery technology and energy density increases, their share in the architecture of future models will grow. However, Lamborghini emphasizes: the transition to full electricity will occur only when it aligns with the brand's philosophy — to create not just transportation, but a car with character.
