Toyota Tacoma Is an Absolute Hit: U.S. Tacoma Sales Soar 61% and Break a Ten-Year Record

The midsize pickup race in the U.S. has a clear leader — Toyota is untouchable while rivals struggle to catch up.

Toyota Tacoma Is an Absolute Hit: U.S. Tacoma Sales Soar 61% and Break a Ten-Year Record

The Toyota Tacoma has become the best-selling midsize pickup in the United States — and not just by a small margin, but with a massive lead over its competitors. Through the first three quarters, Toyota sold 204,464 Tacoma units, a 61.2% increase compared to the same period in 2024. The surge is partly attributed to the launch of the model’s new fourth generation. By the end of 2025, sales are likely to surpass the 2021 total of 257,000 vehicles, which would mark the model’s strongest performance in a decade.

Chevrolet Colorado holds second place with 77,390 units sold. In third is the Ford Ranger with 48,278 units (+57.4%). The Nissan Frontier is close behind at 47,630 units, though that represents a 12.2% year-over-year decline. Rounding out the top five is the Jeep Gladiator, with 38,513 units sold since the start of the year.
